The Stan Getz Legend Series Mouthpiece is an exact reproduction of the one Stan played exclusively, heard on his last recordings, including People Time, Serenity and Anniversary, Apasionado and Bossas & Ballads. While it is an exact replica of Stan's original vintage mouthpiece, (right down to the teeth marks), the dynamics of the mouthpiece have been improved throughout.

 

An American original like Stan himself, the Legend Series Mouthpieces are handmade in the USA by Drake Mouthpieces and combine state of the art technology with hand finishing tradition to create a precision reproduction of Stan’s original mouthpiece.  Available tip openings include Stan’s original 5* (.085’), 6* (.095’) and 7* (.105’).

 

CHARLIE PARKER LEGEND SERIES ALTO MOUTHPIECE - LCP

 

 

The Charlie Parker Legend Series Mouthpiece is an exact reproduction of Bird’s legendary white mouthpiece. Charlie "Bird" Parker was an amazing saxophonist who gained wide recognition for playing a leading role in the development of bebop, a form of jazz characterized by fast tempos, virtuoso technique, and improvisation based on harmonic structure. Parker's innovative approaches to melody, rhythm, and harmony exercised enormous influence on his contemporaries.

 

An American original like Charlie himself, the Legend Series Mouthpieces are handmade in the USA by Drake Mouthpieces and combine state of the art technology with hand finishing tradition to create a precision reproduction of Charlie’s original mouthpiece. Available tip openings include Bird’s original 4*(.62’), 5* (.72’) and 6* (.82’).

 

 

JOHNNY GRIFFIN LEGEND SERIES TENOR MOUTHPIECE – LJG

One of the all-time great tenor saxophonists, Johnny Griffin will go down in jazz history as a performer easily able to negotiate the tricky harmonic changes and swift tempos of modern music. Know as the “Little Giant”, Griffin is also remembered as a player who could masterfully interpret tender ballads.  

 The Johnny Griffin Legend Series Mouthpiece is an exact reproduction of his original gold plated mouthpiece. Drake Mouthpieces has created this model through an innovative one piece casting method that is completely hand finished.  This is unlike most production metal mouthpieces, which are CNC produced (made by machines).  Although a very labor-intensive process, this was the only way to get the exact internal dimensions of Griffins original piece, and thus preserve the authentic experience for the performing artist. Each mouthpiece is finished in a deep rich 24 karat gold plating. As part of this unique process, pieces may have very subtle “inclusions”. This term refers to very small surface fluctuations that are sometimes visible but do not in any way affect the playability of the mouthpiece.  These inclusions further contribute to the individuality of each piece.   

 

The Johnny Griffin Legend Series Mouthpiece is the first metal tenor saxophone mouthpiece added to the series. Available tip openings include Griffin’s original 6*(.100"), 7*(.105") and 8*(.110").

David Liebman's career has spanned over four decades, beginning in the 1970s as the saxophone/flautist in both the Elvin Jones and Miles Davis Groups, continuing as a leader since. He has played on nearly three hundred recordings with over one hundred under his leadership or co-leadership. In jazz education he is a renowned lecturer and author of several milestone books: Self Portrait Of A Jazz Artist, A Chromatic Approach To Jazz Harmony And Melody, Developing A Personal Saxophone Sound, translated into several languages, in addition to teaching DVDs, journalistic contributions to periodicals and published chamber music.

He is the Founder and Artistic Director of the International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ) existing since 1989. Awards include the National Endowment of the Arts Masters of Jazz (2011); the Order of Arts and Letters (France 2009); Jazz Journalist's award for Soprano Saxophone (2007); Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Solo (1998); Honorary Doctorate from the Sibelius Academy (Finland-1997). He is currently Artist in Residence at the Manhattan School of Music and has consistently placed in the top three places for Soprano Saxophone in the Downbeat Critic's Poll since 1973, winning first place in both the Downbeat (2011) and Jazz Times Critic's Poll (2011 and 2012).

The David Liebman Living Legends Soprano Mouthpiece is the first in a series created by Aaron Drake in close collaboration with saxophone icons of today. Along with jazz legend and innovator Dave Liebman, we are proud to offer a product, constructed in such a way that saxophonists can readily develop a personal sound. This model is available in Medium (.065") and Large (.075"). "This mouthpiece developed by Aaron and myself offers a wide range of colors, allowing the artist to explore and search for their own unique sound," mentioned Liebman.
